March 9, 2017 (FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) It was announced today, The Blind Boys of Alabama (5-time Grammy-winning gospel group) will perform at the First Annual Beat the Blues to Save Lives Charity Concert to benefit SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education) and The Jed Foundation (JED), two of the nation’s leading suicide prevention organizations. The event will be held atB.B. King's Blues Club, 237 W 42nd Street in Times Square, NYC, on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 7-10pm. (Doors open at 6:00 pm.)  Tickets and donations (without attending) can be found on Classy, Ticketmaster, or at the door the day of the event.

Emmy-award winning anchor, correspondent and investigative reporter, Randi Kaye will host. For interviews prior to the show date, Dana Fuchs, internationally known Blues/Classic Rock Recording Artist (star of off-Broadway smash, Love, Janis; and star of the film, Across the Universe), and Ruthie Foster (three-time Grammy-nominated soul diva), who’ve both lost a loved one to suicide, will be available for PR, and will perform at the fundraiser.

Along with Dana Fuchs, The Blind Boys of Alabama, and Ruthie Foster, The Apocalypse Blues Revue  (co-founded by members of Godsmack), and Bill Heller, (The Rippingtons), will also perform.   

On-hand will be critically-acclaimed, international fine artist, Eric Waugh, who has been featured in Forbes and on CNN, GMA, ABC-TV’s “Extreme Home Makeover,” will paint a new piece LIVE at the event—to be auctioned off, along with other items, during the evening’s festivities. 

Dr. Dan Reidenberg and/or John MacPhee, leaders of the charity organizations, are also available for interview prior to the event.
